South Australia’s Open Data Declaration

In 2013, South Australia announced an Open Data declaration, recognising the economic, social, and environmental potential of releasing government data.
The declaration states that government data will be open by default and proactively released by government in accordance with international best practice.
Publicly released data must be:
- available online
- free wherever possible
- published using agreed open standards
- openly licensed for commercial and other re-use
As in Queensland, all South Australian government departments are required to adopt an Open Data Strategy.
All publicly released data is available on the South Australian Data Directory.
