As one of the first Australian cities to launch a Digital Strategy, the Adelaide City Council is now inviting ideas for future digital projects.
The 2012-2016 Digital Strategy: Connect Adelaide details 11 measures of success, 5 of which have now been completed according to the City’s website.
The Connect Adelaide Digital Strategy details plans for free WiFi across the city, the rollout of smart parking technology and smart sensors that can analyse people movement around the city, the introduction of interactive digital maps and directions, digital displays, and development of an open data strategy.
Adelaide launched its free WiFi network in June 2014 featuring over 200 outdoor access points.
The National Broadband Network (NBN) is scheduled to be rolled out to the Adelaide CBD and North Adelaide by end of 2015, promising high speed on-premise broadband to residents and businesses.
